Creating a fresh new brand for a much loved pop-culture convention - Liverpool Comic Con.

In November 2017, it was announced that MCM would be cancelling their popular Liverpool Comic Con event after being bought out by global events company - ReedPop. A month later I was told the exciting news that we were going to save the event, and that it was my job to help relaunch it with a brand new identity under a new events company.

After I'd completed the initial branding, we began booking guests and announcing attractions week after week to keep the hype up and ticket sales flowing. These event updates were announced to the public via social media channels which required me to create graphics, write copy and schedule posts on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

Several assets needed to be designed for use for promotion and at the event, including flyers, posters, celebrity guest roller banners, glossy photos for autographs and digital signage displaying photo shoot times, event information and adverts for other events.

Quite differently from other branding and design projects I've worked on, being client-side meant I was heavily involved in the organisation of the event. Besides my everyday creative tasks I was required to work with the organiser on guest bookings, liase with the venue and press, create schedules for guest photographs and develop and manage on-site - a programme of panels for the live Q&A stage for the weekend. As part of this I commissioned Laura Duff to host the stage and interview all of our celebrity guests including Edge from WWE, The Hulk - Lou Ferrigno, The Faceman - Dirk Benedict and the late Verne Troyer amongst others.

The event was a huge success, attended by over 15,000 people over the two days, everything ran smoothly and customers left the venue very happy, leaving raving reviews on social media channels.

Off the back of the great success of this event, the event company tasked me with rolling out the brand across the UK with similar events in Scotland, Wales, Ireland, the North East, the Midlands, Manchester and London. This meant not only expanding on the brand but setting up social channels and new websites for each event.
